Disease carrying fleas from a rat infestation are being blamed for a Typhus outbreak in Los Angeles. The outbreak has spread from the streets of ‘skid row’ to the offices of City Hall. City attorney Elizabeth Greenwood told local station KCAL9 she contracted typhus in November and said “I thought I was going to die.” Symptoms of Typhus include:
- Fever and chills
- body aches and muscle pain
- loss of appetite
- stomach pain
- rash (typically occurs around day 5 of illness)
Kaput’s line of Combo Baits are the ONLY EPA registered rat, mouse, and vole baits that include a 2nd active ingredient to also kill the fleas on the rodent, helping to stop the spread of flea-borne diseases.
